Digital Print Operator

Department: Production 

Reports to: Department Manager

Location: Rochester


Full-Time: Monday – Friday 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. or Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.


Pay Schedule: Weekly Pay 

Non-Exempt: Compensation starts at $38,440 - $52,000  yearly depending on experience

  • 2nd Shift, +$1. hour Shift Differential

**The salary for any job offer within our posted pay bands is determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Candidates with less experience and/or fewer qualifications may start at the lower end of the pay band, while those with more experience and/or higher qualifications may be offered a salary at the higher end of the pay band.


Position Summary

The Digital Transactional Mail Printing Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining digital printing equipment to produce high-quality transactional mail pieces. This role involves managing the entire printing process, from receiving print files to final product inspection, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards and client specifications.

Essential Duties

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Equipment Operation:

 

  • Operate digital printing machines and other related equipment.
  • Set up and configure printing equipment according to job specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on printing machinery.

 

Production Management:

 

  • Review and interpret job orders to determine print specifications such as quantity, stock type, and finishing requirements.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure output meets quality standards.
  • Adjust machine settings to achieve desired print quality and output.

 

Quality Control:

 

  • Conduct quality checks on printed materials to ensure compliance with client requirements and company standards.
  • Identify and rectify any printing defects or issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of production and quality control activities.

 

File Management:

 

  • Prepare and load digital files for printing, ensuring correct formatting and settings.
  • Manage digital file libraries and maintain organized records of all print jobs.

 

Inventory and Supplies:

 

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of printing supplies such as paper, ink, and toner.
  • Order and replenish supplies as needed to maintain continuous production.

 

Safety and Compliance:

 

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Comply with company policies and industry regulations related to digital printing and data security.

 

Team Collaboration:

 

  • Collaborate with the production team to optimize workflow and meet production deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job status and any issues.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Employees may be required to perform duties outside their primary responsibilities or assigned department, as reasonably requested by management. These duties may occasionally occur outside of regular working hours, provided they align with applicable labor laws and are compensated fairly and appropriately, reflecting the value of your contribution to the organization.

On-Call Requirements

  • If you are called in to work outside your regular schedule, you are expected to work at least four hours unless otherwise directed by management.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in digital printing preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in operating digital printing equipment, preferably in a transactional mail environment.
  • Proficiency with digital printing software and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues with printing equipment.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

May contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department. Decisions that address non-routine questions and situations often require investigation and research of precedents. Uses patterns, trends, and precedents to analyze situations and determine an appropriate course of action or approach to solving problems. 

 

Independence of Action

Work progress is monitored by the supervisor/manager. The incumbent follows precedents and procedures, may set priorities, and organizes work within general guidelines established by the supervisor/manager.  

 

People Management

Not responsible for supervising others.  

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

 

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position successfully. 

  • Work is performed in a warehouse or production facility environment.
  • May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and printing chemicals.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, push 800 pounds on a load-bearing cart, carry 25 pounds, and pull 200 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
  • It requires frequent standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and using repetitive motions of hands or wrists; finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with arms and hands for extended periods.
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven setting requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
