Position Title: Sr Regulatory Analyst

Location: Des Moines, IA, United States

Description:
The regulatory analyst provides financial analysis and regulatory requirement support to assist with periodic regulatory filings required by tariffs for each of the jurisdictions within the service territory. The position will also provide key support to various business units within the accounting department.

Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory filings based on tariff requirements, using various inputs from multiple sources.

Reconcile on a monthly and annual basis the financial costs and revenues for each of the jurisdictions within the service territory.

Assist management with annual SEC required filings, ad hoc data requests from regulatory agencies or various other required annual reporting.

Provide support, tools and education necessary to seek consistent methodology is employed for all regulatory filings. This entails preparing and maintaining the tools the organization uses to prepare regulatory filings.

Record periodic journal entries to the general ledger in accordance to GAAP and FERC requirements.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, business administration or a related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Five or more years of related progressive work experience.

Skills to apply financial concepts and accounting principles to the analysis of financial reports and business opportunities.

Ability to direct and coordinate the development of complex financial and econometric models including those technically based.

Strong software skills, particularly with spreadsheets and databases.

Analytical skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events and to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for action.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
