Description

The purpose of your role as a Tax Manager

As a Tax Manager, you will lead sales and use tax compliance, managing audits and providing guidance on tax-related matters. We are looking for an individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax regulations.

Sales and Use tax:

  • Create and implement sales and use tax strategy.
  • Partner with operations teams proactively on sales and use tax topics.
  • Develop and maintain a sales tax tool to assist Operations with job estimates.
  • Provide exemption management, ensuring proper exemption certificates are maintained.
  • Lead timely and accurate filing and remittance of sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis
  • Manage sales and use tax audits, including responding to audit inquiries, gathering documentation, and negotiating with tax authorities.
  • Research and analyze complex sales and use tax issues, providing recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with evolving requirements.
  • Respond to sales and use tax inquiries from business units, vendors, and customers.
  • Drive tax planning initiatives and provide recommendations to minimize tax liabilities.

Organizational Support and Process Improvement:

  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in sales tax reporting and compliance.
  • Lead tax technology efforts and automation initiatives to streamline tax reporting and operational tasks.
  • Provide training and education related to Sales + Use Tax to internal departments, including accounting, finance, and operations, to address tax-related matters and ensure proper tax treatment of transactions
  • Create written documentation of procedures and research support
  • Lead special projects, tax research and ad hoc analysis as needed.

What we're looking for in you

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in sales and use tax, with 2+ years in a leadership role
  • 5+ years of strong knowledge of multi-state Sales and Use tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • 2+ years of experience managing tax audits and working with state tax authorities
  • 5+ years of proficient in tax compliance software and ER systems (Vertex, Avalara)
  • 5+ years of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tax technology tools

Pay Range: $108,352 - $162,528 per year

The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
