Job Description:

Fibertek is a leading developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace community, with key contributions to lasers for atmospheric sensing, laser communications, and lidar sensors for NASA, DoD, and commercial customers. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Mechanical Engineering Department onsite in Herndon, VA. As part of the Mechanical Engineering project team, you will design and develop complex laser and electro-optical systems for military and/or aerospace applications. Duties include creating detailed CAD models and drawings, analyzing systems, initiating procurements, supporting assembly and testing of systems, preparing technical reports, and participating in design review meetings.

Duties will include:

  • Leading efforts to create mechanical system design solutions and architecture.
  • Detailed design CAD models and drawings.
  • Analyzing systems, initiating procurements.
  • Supporting assembly and testing of systems.
  • Preparing technical reports.
  • Leading design review meetings.
  • Creating new concepts in support of business development opportunities.


Job Requirements:

Expertise and experience required:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required
  • MS of Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 5-10 years relevant experience minimum
  • Expertise in Creo software
  • Experience with ANSYS software a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
