Saul Centers, Inc. is a self-managed, self-administered equity real estate investment trust, formed in 1993. Saul Centers operates and manages a real estate portfolio of 61 community and neighborhood shopping center and office properties totaling approximately 9.8 million square feet of leasable area.

Saul Centers' primary operating strategy is to continue its program of internal growth, renovations, and expansions of community and neighborhood shopping centers that primarily service the day-to-day necessities and services subsector of the overall retail market.

The internship will be a 10-week role supporting the Accounting department in several key areas including lease administration, technical accounting, and SEC reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Abstract leases
  • Research and respond to tenant inquiries
  • Reconcile tenant account balances
  • Review and reconcile deferral and payment plan balances in the ledger
  • Validate tenant gross sales reporting
  • Assist with review and explanation of monthly operating statement variances
  • Identify and implement improvements to current processes
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for lender requirements.
  • Assist with documentation required for SEC reporting.
  • Complete ad hoc research projects for CAO, Controller and Assistant Controller as needed

Job Requirements (Skills & Abilities)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.

Education Requirements

  • A current student or recent graduate of an Accounting or Finance program from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher.

The actual base pay offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. Base pay is one component of Saul Centers Inc. total compensation package, which also includes access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, bonus plans and more.
