Staffing Pros, a division of VETS Inc., is recruiting for a full-time System Administrator in Fairfax, VA. An Active TS/SCI clearance is required for this role.

Our client is seeking an experienced System Administrator to maintain, upgrade, and support Linux operating systems and infrastructure in enterprise environments. The ideal candidate is skilled in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, has strong communication abilities, and can effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical teams. This role involves managing system infrastructure, supporting upgrades, ensuring system security, and integrating new technologies with an emphasis on transitioning to cloud environments.



Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage system infrastructure, including databases, computer equipment, and software/hardware.
  • Provide technical support for hardware and software issues.
  • Perform system monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure hardware integrity and availability.
  • Regularly upgrade system software and firmware as needed.
  • Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into existing systems.
  • Test patches and build new and existing servers.
  • Respond to system anomalies and perform performance tuning.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience as a system administrator.
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages and system automation.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GitLab, Puppet, and IP networks (switching, subnets, VLANs).
  • General understanding of hardware, including servers, network storage, PDUs, and KVMs.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours support requests.
  • Knowledge of system security, vulnerabilities, and LDAP clients/servers.
  • Security+ or CISSP certification required.

Nice to Haves:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with CI polygraph; full-scope polygraph is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Positive, self-motivated, and adaptable to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
