Position Overview
Job Title: Manager – Process Optimization and Productivity Function: Operations Reports To: Head – Operations Excellence
Job Purpose
The Manager – Process Optimization and Productivity is responsible for enhancing operational efficiency and safety, reducing costs, and implementing standardized workflows across Blue Dart’s logistics network. The role leverages industrial engineering principles to optimize processes, integrate advanced tools and technologies, and maintain performance standards in line with the company’s leadership position in the logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities
Process Mapping and Standardization
• Conduct end-to-end process mapping for all operational activities.
• Develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for process uniformity across locations.
• Identify inefficiencies through time and motion studies and implement corrective actions.
Workflow and Ergonomics Optimization
• Design ergonomic workstations and processes to ensure employee well-being and safety.
• Optimize workflows for improved throughput, reduced downtime, and enhanced worker productivity.
Productivity and Cost Efficiency
• Drive initiatives aimed at improving overall productivity metrics in alignment with business objectives.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities by optimizing resources, streamlining activities, and integrating automation.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
• Establish performance metrics to monitor productivity and safety improvements.
• Create dashboards and reports for data-driven decision-making and leadership reviews.
Technology and Automation Integration
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, such as robotics, IoT, and process automation, to streamline operations.
• Collaborate with IT and vendors to deploy scalable technological solutions.
Safety and Compliance
• Conduct regular safety assessments and implement actionable improvements to reduce workplace risks.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Training and Stakeholder Collaboration
• Train operations teams on new processes, tools, and best practices.
• Act as a liaison between operational teams and senior leadership to align goals.
Qualifications
Education
• Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• Preferred: MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Operations or Logistics.
Work Experience
• Minimum 10-12 years of experience in process optimization, industrial engineering, or operations roles.
• Hands-on experience in logistics, courier services, or manufacturing industries with exposure to high-volume environments.
• Proven expertise in time and motion studies, productivity improvement initiatives, and process automation projects.
Technical Skills
1. Process Mapping Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, or Lucidchart for workflow design.
2. Time and Motion Study Tools: Experience with MOST, WorkStudy+, or similar tools.
3. Lean Six Sigma: Green Belt/Black Belt certification preferred for implementing process improvements.
4. Analytics Tools: Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or advanced Excel for performance monitoring.
5. Automation Tools: Knowledge of process automation systems like UiPath or robotics technologies.
