Overview
The Goodman Lab is seeking a highly motivated research associate to support a range of current and proposed research projects. Dr. Goodman’s research is focused on work as a structural determinant of perinatal health. Her projects include research on implementation of state and federal workrelated policies (e.g., paid family and medical leave), their impact on low-wage earning and precarious workers, and how employers and healthcare providers can better support pregnant and postpartum workers needing to take leave. Duties will vary based on current project needs, but primary focus will be on data collection, data analysis, grant writing, and preparation of published manuscripts. Additionally, the candidate may work directly with research sites as part of intervention activities.
This research involves a range of experimental designs and analysis methods. Project designs include cluster randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies using administrative and survey data, and smaller pre/post pilot studies. Both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods are planned to address various specific aims. Research associates are strongly supported in their professional development, including guidance on career trajectory and grant/scientific writing. Duties may include intervention development and implementation, data management and analysis, and drafting of papers. Good interpersonal skills are a must to work with research participants, and within the collegial atmosphere of the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences.
