Description:

ATA Services, Inc. is currently seeking to hire a part-time Spanish Speaking Interpreter to work on a temporary assignment with The State of NM – DOH Family Connects New Mexico.

  • $22.00 per hour; weekly pay
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Schedule: Part-Time; 6 – 12 hours per week. 2 – 4 visits per week - each visit is calculated at 3 hours including commute time.
  • Travel for home visits within Bernalillo County is required; mileage reimbursement is offered, but employees must meet car insurance requirements.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Purpose: The interpreter will facilitate effective communication between the Family Connects New Mexico nurse and the non-English-speaking family to ensure an accurate exchange of information regarding healthcare, parenting, and other essential topics.
  • Preparation: Ensure availability and readiness for the scheduled visit by coordinating with the Family Connects New Mexico nurse in advance. Familiarize yourself with medical and parenting terminology to ensure accurate interpretation.
  • Facilitation: Provide consecutive interpretation during the entire home visit, accurately conveying spoken language back and forth between the nurse and the family. Maintain neutrality and confidentiality during the interpretation process.
  • Clarification: Assist in clarifying cultural nuances or any language-related barriers that may arise during the communication between the nurse and the family.
  • Documentation: If necessary, assist in the completion of necessary forms or documents, ensuring accurate translation of information.
  • Feedback: Provide feedback to the Family Connects New Mexico program regarding any challenges faced during the interpretation process or suggestions for improvement in future visits.
  • Conclusion: Conclude the interpretation services upon the completion of the Family Connects New Mexico nurse home visit, ensuring all relevant information has been accurately conveyed between the nurse and the family.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Language Proficiency: The interpreter must be fluent in both English and Spanish, the language spoken by the family requiring interpretation services.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor, respect confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards throughout the interpretation process.
  • Availability: Be available for potential follow-up appointments or assistance that may be required after the initial home visit.
  • Mileage reimbursement: To receive mileage reimbursement the employee must meet ATA’s vehicle insurance requirements.
