Pay: $21.75/hour - $24.00/hour plus $4.57/hour (Health & Wellness benefit)

At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and we are currently looking to hire an experienced Shipping and Receiving Clerk to perform clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping and receiving goods in support of our program.


This clerk will follow established guidelines in performing day-to-day, routine tasks. In handling unusual, non-routine tasks, specific guidance from a supervisor or other officials will be provided.


Shipping duties typically involve the following:

  • Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents.
  • Ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.
  • Preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading, etc.

Receiving duties typically involve the following:

  • Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records.
  • Checking for damaged goods.
  • Ensuring goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the program, and preparing and keeping records of the goods received.

The following job functions are basic requirements and other duties may also be assigned:

  • Learn and utilize working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • This position requires consideration of program requirements together with specific variations from standardized guidelines.
  • Place and receive MILSTRIP orders and prepare goods receipts.
  • Receive FedEx, UPS, and all other deliveries.
  • Verify items, pull packing slips, copy, scan, file/distribute as necessary.
  • Place items into the appropriate location(s) and arrange items to be easily identified.
  • Disburse items to individual(s) when requested and manage the inventory control process for Ready Issue.
  • Support database entries for GEM and OM&S Audit.
  • Inventory equipment for disposal (DRMO).
  • Verify part numbers/model numbers/serial number on various types of equipment.
  • May perform as HAZMAT coordinator or work with HAZMAT Coordinator to ensure local HAZMAT conforms with regulations.

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary but most work performed in enclosed buildings.
  • Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Working hours are 0630 - 1600.
  • There may be a need to work flex working hours and overtime.
  • Occasional travel may be required
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum one to two (1-2) years' relevant experience.
  • Fork lift license required.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, and Excel) & Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Works well alone, limited supervision required.
  • Works well with others and has a Customer Service Attitude.
  • If performing as a HAZMAT Coordinator, a HAZMAT Coordinator Certification is required within 60 days of start.
  • Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
