Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a motivated and driven Survey Manager in Nashville, TN. Tennessee Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) registration required. As our Nashville Region Survey Leader, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of Thomas & Hutton's impact across the region. The Survey Leader will build and lead teams, manage exciting projects, and engage in client development… all while using state-of-the-art technology, including aerial mapping, reality capture, and advanced GPS systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Manages and coordinates surveys and investigations of land surfaces and prepares Topographic Maps, Boundary Adjustments, Subdivision Maps, Records of Survey and Legal Descriptions
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements including boundary calculations and legal ownership issues
- Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget
- Acts as advisor to the engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of Land Surveying
- Relies on experience, knowledge, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a highly professional manner
- Performs a variety of complex tasks relating to Boundary and Topographic Surveying and Mapping
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
- Leads and directs field survey crews and survey technicians
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in Land Surveying, Subdivision Mapping, Topographic Mapping and writing legal descriptions
- Proficiency in the operation of Carlson Survey and GPS Equipment
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. Tennessee Registered Professional Land Surveyor required.
Skills:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software applications.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- The ability to work a regular schedule of 730AM - 530PM Mon-Thurs and 730AM - 1130AM Fri
- Proven ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks
- Highly client service oriented, self-starter, and team player
- Ability to solve problems
- Excellent time management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an environment that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, yellow jackets, etc.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a wide range of temperatures.
- Ability to climb hills and walk long distances.
- Ability to traverse different types of terrain.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
- Ability to interact both verbally and written
