Bid packages will involve site prep, excavation, embankment, drainage, concrete foundations, deep foundations, structural concrete, & concrete/asphalt paving.

We are seeking a full-time Senior Civil Estimator to ensure that take-offs, bids, and proposals are completed and delivered with the highest standards of accuracy and excellence. Bid packages will involve site prep, excavation, embankment, drainage, concrete foundations, deep foundations, structural concrete, & concrete/asphalt paving. The ideal candidate will be responsible for varying task including the list below:


  • Responsible for accurate, detailed quantity take-offs from project drawings and technical specifications.
  • Perform research for means and methods, materials, costs and construction techniques and services.
  • Ability to prepare detailed, comprehensive subcontractor and vendor work scopes.
  • Solicit, analyze, and compare subcontractor and vendor quotations. Liaise with subcontractors and vendors for clarification of issues and scope.
  • Develop full-scope cost estimates based on proposal documentation that follow company estimating policy and procedures.
  • Assist in developing project plans and execution schedules.
  • Develop proposals documents for clients including written narratives, visual aids, & schedules.
  • Perform site visits on pursuits and ongoing projects, attend industry trade and outreach events.

Experience & Abilities

  • Experience estimating significant portion of the following project work: Site Prep (Clear/Grub), Sub-Surface Drainage, Dirt & Base, Concrete & Deep Foundations, Paving, & Structural Concrete.
  • Proficient estimating in HCSS Heavy Bid & Microsoft Excel.
  • Displays a strong attention to detail, with the ability to exhibit thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks.
  • Computer proficient with skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Able to communicate positively and effectively with various types of personalities.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and prioritize accordingly.
  • Ability to train and lead Junior Estimator staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to master new processes and technologies and develop new methods of problem-solving.
  • Able to remain calm and steady in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong sense of professionalism, professional responsibility, and accountability.

Work Environment

Work environment includes office machines, electronics and filing systems. Frequent lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Constant sitting, typing, and reaching for long periods of time. Must have good hand/eye coordination. Required to sit at a computer for several hours at a time. This position also requires working in various construction job sites that can expose you to extreme weather conditions, such as high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, and rain. The job sites can also be loud due to the noise level from moving mechanical parts. Additionally, you may be required to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions, lift heavy objects, and walk or stand for long periods.


Physical Demands

The job requires you to have excellent stamina and physical strength to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects. You will also need good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination to operate machinery and perform tasks effectively. The job requires you to work on uneven, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, and inconsistent ground, and you must be able to quickly move your arms and legs.
