ISS Stoxx is hiring! We are seeking a Research Analyst to work with our Environmental & Social Proxy Issues Research team in our Rockville, Maryland office. This position will research environmental and social issue proposals to be voted on at annual shareholder meetings of publicly traded companies, primarily in the U.S. for a term starting February 2025 for a term ending in May/June 2025 (there could be some fluctuation in start and end dates). Interviewing for this position will begin in November.

What You'll Do:

  • Complete written analyses detailing ISS vote recommendations and rationale on the relevant agenda items on ballot based on ISS' policy guidelines, including an analysis of board responsiveness where a shareholder proposal receives majority support
  • Develop knowledge of corporate environmental and social sustainability issues, including human rights, human capital management, animal welfare, climate change and greenhouse gas emissions, corporate political contributions and lobbying, and sustainability reporting
  • Build an understanding of the role of the board of directors in assessing and mitigating risks related to environmental and social issues
  • Engage with representatives from corporations, institutional investors, and other market players
  • Answer queries on research analyses, and discuss policies and vote recommendations as needed
  • Other research-related work and duties as assigned

What We Need from You:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, plus relevant work experience preferred in business, corporate social and environmental issues, or other corporate fields
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, a dedicated work ethic, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Work and communicate effectively within a team-oriented environment
  • Willing to work long hours and weekends during peak weeks (approx. April through May)

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid schedule with three days in-office and two remote.
  • Peak Season: During peak season (mid-April through May), overtime may be requested, which can include evenings or weekends.
  • Payroll and Benefits: The payroll provider for this position is through a third party, so ISS STOXX benefits are not applicable. Benefits may be available through the third-party provider after an eligibility period; please inquire for more details.

Location Options

  • Rockville, MD: Located within one mile of the Shady Grove Red Line metro station, with free shuttle service between the metro and office, ample free parking and an onsite gym.
  • Washington, DC: A modern, open-floor workspace on Rhode Island Avenue in Northwest DC, with an onsite gym and convenient metro access.

Compensation: The pay range for this position in Rockville, MD, and Washington, DC, is $26.00 - $27.50 per hour. Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and education.

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with overtime eligibility (subject to manager approval).
