Facility Planning, Management, and Environment of Care (EOC) Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) job in Ladson, South Carolina!

About the Role

Are you an expert in healthcare infrastructure and safety management? Join us as the Facility Planning, Management, and EOC Safety SME, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, efficient, and modernized healthcare environments. This position focuses on compliance, hazard mitigation, and creating a secure environment for patients and staff within government or integrated healthcare systems, with a special emphasis on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Expert Consultation: Provide specialized expertise in infrastructure and capital management, including facility planning, market-based assessments, and build-vs-buy analyses.
  • Program Assessment: Evaluate VA facility engineering and safety programs, conduct root cause analyses, and develop hazard abatement procedures.
  • Policy Development: Prepare policies, reports, and correspondence related to safety, occupational health, and fire prevention.
  • Workplace Inspections: Conduct safety inspections of facilities and storage areas to ensure compliance with regulations and proactively address hazards.
  • Contractor Oversight: Monitor contractor compliance with safety, occupational health, and fire prevention requirements on VA grounds.
  • Training and Education: Design and deliver training programs to enhance employee awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Emergency Management: Apply knowledge of hazardous materials, waste management, and emergency response techniques, including threat assessments and first aid.
  • Accident Investigation: Lead investigations, preserving accident scenes, conducting root cause analysis, and managing evidence.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate accountability, set objectives, delegate effectively, and foster a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree
  • Experience: Minimum of 20 years in safety and capital asset programs within large government or integrated healthcare systems, particularly with the VA.
  • Skills:
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) per U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
  • In-depth knowledge of safety guidelines, hazardous materials, and accident investigation procedures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to train, educate, and engage diverse groups.
