About the Role:

As a Software Engineer in the API and Feeds teams at Dow Jones, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Consumer Feeds system for our B2C products. Ideal candidates will be self starters that are able to work well in an agile and evolving product environment. This is a hybrid position based in our New York City or Princeton NJ location. The role will report to our Senior Manager, Engineering.

You Will:

  • Create feeds for the Dow Jones consumer brands including The Wall Street Journal, Barron's and Marketwatch.
  • Play an active role in the development process, collaborate with feed requestors, and product managers to gain understanding of requirements and ensure the content is provided securely in-accordance with the guidelines set for the application.
  • Develop server-side logic to create and maintain the logic that runs on the server, including data storage and APIs.
  • Integrate the application with internal and external APIs and web services.
  • Write clean code, assist in refactoring code, bug fixes and production support, participate in code reviews, talk about code, and facilitate technical discussions to ensure solving problems in concert.
  • Have keen technical and product sense and know when a feature works, and when it can be improved.


You Have:
  • 1+ years of experience working with Node.js Backend Developer, with a solid understanding of Node.js and its core principles.
  • Proficiency in understanding modern backend technologies and building RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Proficiency in using Git for source code management.
  • Familiarity with writing unit tests using Jest is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS Cloud services such as EC2, CloudFront, and Lambda is desirable.
  • Experience with creating user interfaces in React.JS or Next.JS is a plus.
  • Good analytical skills with ability to solve problems and brainstorm solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Positive, optimistic approach and the ability to work well as part of a broader team/organization.
  • Good communication skills and being able to clearly share ideas and feedback with team members.
  • Eager and willing to learn new things.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $105,000
