The salary range for this position is $$6,686.00 - $8,650.00 per month depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Marketing, the Sr. Design Manager will liaise with partners both internally and externally to preserve brand integrity and ideate and oversee design implementation in print and digital spaces and/or campaigns from concept to completion. The incumbent is a seasoned designer with a proven track record of creative, inspiring work in digital and print mediums, is deadline oriented, and has significant experience in brand management and UX. Develops strategy, ensures assets are on brand, and works in alignment with strategy. The Sr. Design Manager will bring forth innovative concepts and ideas for various types of content including website, social media, print pieces, digital advertising, videos, etc.



Responsibilities

Design and Implementation 70%

  • Assist SEO manager in integrating SEO best practices into web properties.
  • Ensure that SDSU Global Campus website information is accurate, current, and follows SDSU Global Campus marketing style and branding guides and SDSU polices, and 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Champion flagship website redesigns internally produced and manage outside agencies with mobile/responsive design with SEO/conversion optimization.
  • Create and develop user interfaces for customer facing systems such as portals, learning management systems, and content management systems, while working with various technology teams to implement these designs.
  • Identify the user behavior of our target audiences and support the design of appropriate UI/UX solutions.
  • Creates wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps that communicate interaction and design ideas.
  • Turn approved comps into compliant HTML5/CSS3.
  • Assisting in creative design of materials for projects.
  • Working knowledge of DNS.
  • Ensure that GC websites are secure, functional, and meet evolving business needs.
  • Maintenance and updates: Perform routine site audits and ongoing maintenance as needed.
  • Front-end and back-end development: Create user interfaces using HTML/CSS and integrate data from various back-end services and databases.

Project Management 15%

  • Manages marketing and communications projects, including (but not limited to) web design, digital / print advertising, marketing materials, videos, and photos.
  • Serves as a project manager for all creative work.
  • Supervises graphic design, web design personnel and manages freelance contracts.
  • Meeting and contributing ideas for improvements and optimizations of current processes.
  • Coordinates across creative, content, digital, marketing, and communications teams to ensure creative solutions meet project objectives, ensure quality control, and tracking to ensure projects are completed on established timelines and within established budgets.

Marketing 10%

  • Oversight of internal marketing-related technologies that support overall marketing goals, make approved changes to the SDSU Global Campus website, adding forms that translate into data flowing into the CRM (Salesforce) system, or information flowing into and out of CMS (Wordpress).
  • Responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating brand strategies that help to drive revenue growth.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners on creative needs.

Qualifications



Knowledge & Abilities

Technical/Design

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, similar graphic design programs, Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent creativity, graphic design, user experience, and communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and user experience, including skill to design in an appealing, lively and relevant way.
  • Thorough knowledge of content management systems and / or relevant web applications used for web production.
  • Thorough technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and / or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities.
  • Strong aesthetic design skills, problem-solving skills and an in-depth understanding of the audience and visual communication strategies/methods.
  • Thorough skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the organization's message and in keeping with strategic objectives.
  • Proven understanding of brand architecture, brand identity and brand positioning.
  • Understanding of marketing in print, electronic, and online media and how each differs in execution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and capabilities with personal computers and software, and the Web. Working knowledge of standard computer office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google G Suite, or other productivity software.
  • Proven experience in conversion oriented, direct response design.
  • Must be highly skilled in creating standards-compliant HTML5/CSS3 websites using best practice techniques.
  • Working knowledge of web analytics (Adobe/Omniture implementation knowledge a plus).
  • Experience in developing Responsive websites required.
  • Familiarity with Bootstrap, Wordpress, and MVC frameworks such as CAKE PHP a plus.
  • Use industry-standard development tools such as: Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud, IDE type HTML editing applications, and have knowledge of web-based platforms and browsers.
  • Very good working knowledge of PHP, AJAX, JSON, MySQL, JavaScript, and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks like Prototype.js and jQuery.

  • Proven mentoring and team-building skills, including strong ability to provide clear creative direction, leadership, and helpful feedback in a creative team environment.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related field or similar certified coursework in applicable field of study, or a combination of education and relevant technical experience.
  • Three-years of progressively responsible work experience.

Preferred Qualifications & Special Skills

  • Five-years of progressively responsible work experience.
  • Comfortable working with SVN.
  • Familiarity with integrating PHP based back-end systems with front-end interfaces.
  • Knowledge of web servers a plus.
  • Knowledge of online business marketing principals (Impressions, clicks, conversions, ROI, Cost per Acquisition, Web analytics) with the ability to analyze results of initiatives.
  • Good working knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO).
