Job Description

Colonial Terminals, Inc. (CTI) is an industry leader in handling and storing liquid and dry bulk products. We own and operate the largest, independent, liquid and dry bulk storage facilities with breakbulk capability in the Southeastern United States.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Support Services, the Liquid Maintenance Mechanical Foreman serves as the front-line supervisor in the field who is actively involved in the daily coordination and execution of various task and provides leadership and immediate oversight to the in-house Liquid Maintenance staff and third-party mechanical contractors.

This foreman ensures all aspects of mechanical maintenance and improvements are carried out in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring reliability, longevity and minimal downtime at four liquid handling facilities (CTI Plant 1, CTI Plant 2, CCS Telfair, CCS Lathrop). Each facility contains a large quantity of customized liquid handling systems that vary in size capability.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage Workflow - Coordinate various maintenance activities throughout the liquid handling facilities such as preventative maintenance, repair work orders and breakdowns. (Schedule and dispatch maintenance technicians and/or contractors based on daily operations, operations supervisor’s priority and current workload and workforce availability).
  • Monitor and inspect daily activities dispatched to staff and ensure employees are producing quality work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assist staff when needed in the field to apply knowledge when trouble shooting or assist with work when members of the maintenance staff are absent.
  • Evaluate performance of maintenance staff.
  • Maintain quality and service standards.
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings.
  • Participate in large capital projects with Maintenance Department Manager and Project Manager.
    • Monitor daily activity of contractors for safety efficiency and work quality.
    • Assist in design based on plant knowledge and maintenance feasibility.
    • Respond to contractor foreman immediate needs in the field.
  • Identify and procure materials, parts and equipment required for upcoming work to ensure maintenance staff and/or contractors have the resources needed to complete the job.
  • Senior level pipe fitting and pipe welding skills.
  • Senior level millwright skills with liquid handling equipment such as pumps, mixers, loading arms, air compressors, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of liquid handling systems from both a maintenance and operations standpoint.
  • Working knowledge of HAZMAT products, the potential risk associated, and proper PPE required.
  • Excellent understand of how to safely perform mechanical work such as welding and millwright work around flammables and chemicals.
  • API storage tank repair and refurbishment.
  • Structural steel fabrication.
  • Heavy equipment operation (man lifts, boom trucks, backhoes, forklifts)
  • Confined space entry.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Excellent personal and people leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.
  • Experience with large industrial facilities such as refineries and mid-stream terminals with numerous piping and pump systems that handle a variety of hazardous liquids required.
  • Experience with mid-stream terminals with numerous piping and pump systems that handle a variety of hazardous liquids preferred.
  • 10 years total industrial maintenance experience with 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Mechanic required.
  • Proficient in computing systems and skills including Microsoft programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites as required.
  • Must be able to support an organization operating 24/7.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions: Heat, Cold, Wind, and Rain.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
