The Sales Analyst is responsible for supporting the sales team with data-driven insights, managing analytical tools, and maintaining crucial pricing, freight, and bid data. This role focuses on enhancing sales performance by running key models, tracking trends, and collaborating with internal teams to optimize pricing, freight management, and bid submissions. The Sales Analyst will also serve as a backup for the Internal Sales Manager and play a critical role in preparing for customer and quarterly sales reviews.

Job Responsibilities (list the top 6-8 responsibilities the role is required to do)
Data Analysis and Model Management:
Run Financial Models: Execute and interpret Financial models to provide actionable insights and trend analysis for the sales team.
Track Financial Trends: Regularly monitor and report on Financial trends, ensuring that current market data informs sales strategies and pricing adjustments.
Margin Percent Modeling: Work with team members to develop and update margin percentage models, aiding in precise forecasting and financial planning.
Sales Planning and Pricing Review:
AD Planner Control: Oversee the AD planner, ensuring that adjustments align with strategic sales goals and operational requirements.
Pricing Review: Conduct periodic pricing reviews, providing recommendations based on market trends, cost data, and Financial insights to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
Backup for Internal Sales Manager: Support the Internal Sales Manager as a backup resource, managing key sales tasks as required.
Customer and Quarterly Sales Reviews:
Presentation Preparation: Update PowerPoint presentations for customer reviews, incorporating tonnage reports, customer trends, and performance data to support informed client discussions.
Quarterly Financial Review: Collaborate with the retail sales team to prepare and present quarterly Financial insights, highlighting trends and identifying areas for improvement.
Bid and Account Management:
Bid Economics and Modeling: Assist in bid modeling, helping the sales team develop competitive bids by accurately calculating costs and anticipated margins.
Online Portal Submissions: Manage online submissions for significant bids, including key accounts like Ahold and Aldi, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
Freight and Cost Management:
Freight Rate Tracking: Monitor and report on freight rates and truck weights by lane, optimizing freight utilization and ensuring freight costs are accurately reflected in the cost of goods.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analysis, trend tracking, and financial modeling.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint). Oracle, M3, AS400, CFS, Circana/IRI preferred, not required.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to tracking and analyzing data, with the ability to maintain accurate records.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer presentations and collaboration with upper-level sales management.

Education
Associate degree with relevant experience required
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, or or related field, preferred.

Experience
1-3 years’ experience data analysis, in a sales analysis or financial analysis role preferred, with knowledge of freight management and cost accounting, a plus.
