Laboratory Research Technician II
The University of Pittsburgh Student Health Services provides high quality primary health care, prevention, health education and pharmacy services to enhance student living and learning. Primary care services include management of both acute and chronic conditions as well as travel health and provision of gender affirming care. The Gynecological services include screening for STIs, provision of age specific screening as well as full contraceptive management. Psychiatric services include management of mood disorders as well as ADHD. Student Health Services is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), these services uphold rigorous standards of quality and safety, promoting a healthy environment conducive to academic success. There is possibility of are looking to create a jointly appointed position to not only manage the psychiatric needs of the Pitt undergrads, but to also provide care at Western Psychiatric, creating a stronger continuum of care for our diverse on-campus transitional age population.
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, molecular techniques,
gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, and may
perform microsurgical procedures. Ensures conformity to specifications.
•Identifies and prepares specimens.
•Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
•Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.
•Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books. Organizes and documents results.
•Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment.
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
