Position Summary: To operate the shear machine and associated equipment in a safe and productive manner per the orders and customer specifications.

2. Major Responsibilities/Activities (List in order of importance the essential functions of the job and the approximate percentage of time spent on each of the activities; describe what must be accomplished, not how it must be done.):

The operator will set up the machine and will make proper adjustments as needed to the machine to ensure each particular product is ran to the customer specification.

The operator will thread up the copper tubing into the shear machine out of a pan to straighten the tubing into a straight length piece of copper.

The operator will ensure the quality of the finished copper tubing if met by quality standards.

The operator will record all measurements that are required and enter the information in our MES record keeping system.

The operator will keep the area around the machine clean and will clean the work area daily prior to the end of each scheduled shift.

The operator may be required to perform other duties for the Production Supervisor as directed, especially if the operator is waiting on feed stock to run the machine.

3. Other Functions:

The operator could participate in programs to improve safety, quality and process improvements within the department or other production areas.

4. Decision Making:

The operator will report to the lead personnel and shift supervisor to ensure effective compliance to safety, qualify, productivity and maintenance issues as they apply to the department.

Lead personnel, shift supervisor, production manager, saw operator, quality personnel and maintenance personnel as needed.

7. Knowledge Skills and Abilities (Include education, experience, reasoning ability, special skills, computer ability and licenses or certifications required):

Computer skills, reading of micrometers, effective communicate verbally, self-starter.

Additional Job Description

This is a 3rd shift position. Hours are 8pm-6am. Starting wage is based on experience and skill level, normally between $17.42-19.83 per hour with a $1.25 shift differential.
