MBA Admissions is seeking an Assistant Director to lead College Pipeline Programs, with the goal of attracting and engaging a diverse pool of undergraduate students to consider graduate business education and ultimately converting them into Havard Business School (HBS) MBA applicants. This role is part of the MBA Admissions Marketing team, which manages the prospective student journey from recruitment (across various channels such as on-campus events, off-campus events, social media, and email) through to encouraging admitted students to attend HBS. The Assistant Director will focus on the earliest stages of this journey and work almost exclusively with undergraduate audiences.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in marketing technologies and strategies that resonate with undergraduate audiences and possess strong analytical skills. Over time, the Assistant Director may also develop into a full Admissions Board Member, with responsibilities including application reviews and candidate interviews. We are looking for someone with sound judgment, strong communication abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills to contribute to a dynamic, high-performing team.

Collaborate with senior marketing team members and faculty to develop a portfolio of virtual and in-person offerings tailored for college students.

Launch, manage, continuously improve, and scale a new top-of-the-funnel virtual pipeline series, offered multiple times per year and specifically targeting college students.

Oversee the college pipeline program portfolio and actively participate in its execution, collaborating closely with the broader marketing team, especially the diversity team and the College Coordinator.

Develop and implement a comprehensive digital marketing strategy and email campaign aimed at college students, in partnership with the digital marketing team.

Collaborate with the digital team to create and develop new content specifically tailored for the college segment.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of events and campaigns, providing regular updates to the Marketing team on the progress and status of the college pipeline.

Identify segmentation opportunities within the college audience and implement marketing strategies.

Represent HBS MBA Admissions at in-person events, both domestic and potentially international, as well as virtual marketing events, to promote graduate business education and Harvard Business School.

Gain expertise in the college segment and serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert on all matters related to the college audience.

MBA Application Evaluation

  • Serve in a primary evaluation role for college Summer in Venture Management program.
  • 2+2 and MBA application evaluation. Develop into a full Admissions Board Member; training and on boarding to take place over several Evaluation cycles. This will come to include reading applications and serving as a member of the MBA Interview Board.


MBA Interview Board. Team (ongoing)
  • Manage a full-time team member
  • Support team-wide events and activities such as Admitted Students Welcome, Interview Days, yield activities, conference attendance, internal team building, etc.
  • Contribute to collaborative culture with willingness to both teach and learn from colleagues.
  • Attend weekly Marketing team meetings • Report to Senior Associate Director, MBA Admissions Outreach.
  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience

Other Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of hands-on admissions and/or marketing work.
  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with independent project execution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as good judgment
  • Positive self-starter who has experience with independent project execution
  • Exceptional EQ, interpersonal and communication skills (including strong presentation skills), and the ability to adhere to the highest ethical standards
  • Ability to travel and integrate work-style effectively with cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Strong and thoughtful people management skills, with demonstrated success managing and inspiring teams to achieve goals
  • Master's degree a plus


Additional Information

This position is approved for a 1-year term (with possibility of renewal/extension) which begins on the person's first day of employment.

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

We may conduct candidate interviews virtually (phone and/or via Zoom) and/or in-person for this role.
