Essential Functions:

The main purpose of the AI Engineer is to develop and deploy AI solutions that optimize court operations, improve efficiency, and enhance access to justice for all citizens. This position will conduct research to identify emerging trends and advancements in AI and translate those findings into actionable strategies for implementation. In addition, this role will involve collaborating with cross- functional teams to provide technical expertise and support for various IT systems engineering initiatives.

AI Solution Development and Implementation - Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions to address specific challenges within the Judiciary. Integrate AI solutions into existing Court systems and workflows. Collaborate with stakeholders and other JIS teams to gather requirements and develop solutions to meet Judiciary needs.

Research and Innovation- Conduct research to explore innovative applications of AI within the Judiciary and identify opportunities for improving court processes, decision-making, and access to justice. Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies. Translate research findings into actionable insights and recommendations for the development of new AI initiatives.

Data Analysis and Preprocessing- Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets from diverse sources. Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform the development of AI models and algorithms. Clean, transform, and standardize data to ensure quality, consistency, and compatibility with AI modeling techniques.

Systems Engineering- Provide technical expertise and support for various non-AI-related systems. Design, deploy, monitor, and maintain these systems. Systems include but are not limited to: Windows/Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, VMware stack (ESXi/vCenter/vSphere/Horizon View VDI), Nutanix HCI, Active Directory/Red Hat Single Sign-On, and data storage/backup solutions.

Disaster Recovery and Failover- Conduct disaster recovery/failover test scenarios for supported systems. Ensure supported systems are redundant and performant during disaster scenarios.

Documentation- Maintain documentation of systems and solutions, system metrics, project information and plans. Prepare training material for both internal and external customers as the situation warrants.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
Five (5) years of professional IT work experience in artificial intelligence programming, data structures and algorithms, machine learning/deep learning, or general systems engineering.

Note: Additional related work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two (4) years of the required education.

Knowledge of:
Data preprocessing techniques, feature engineering, and model evaluation methods. Data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Enterprise systems and architecture
Containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Natural language processing (NLP) techniques.
Hypervisors and server virtualization.

Skill in:
Designing and implementing machine learning algorithms and models.
Coordinating with a multitude of technical and non-technical individuals with different priorities and goals.
Creating system documentation (build sheets, knowledge base articles, etc.).

Ability to:
Work in a collaborative team environment which spans multiple departments and areas of responsibility.
Learn new technologies quickly and apply this knowledge to a complex production environment. Communicate advanced technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Design effective technical solutions for defined business requirements.

Physical Requirements:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
