Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The candidate hired into this role should have a strong analyticalbackground with experience in both quantitative and qualitative data,understand how institutional data is used to guide decision-making by Collegestakeholders, and be enthusiastic about employing data visualization tools aspart of efforts to increase access to data across the College. In consultationwith the Associate Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, the Associate Directorwill oversee the Office’s creation and maintenance of institutional dashboards(Tableau), coordinate responses for external reporting, respond to internaldata requests for analyses related to College policies, business practices, andinstitutional effectiveness. TheAssociate Director provides support and guidance to the Analysts and ResearchAssistant within the Department as well as direct support to the AssociateDean.

The Associate Director isresponsible for verifying data from multiple databases and College systemsincluding PeopleSoft, Alchemer, and EAB Navigate. The Associate Director will collaborate withprofessionals in other departments across the College to promote institutionaleffectiveness and planning; support efforts to improve student learning,retention, and experience; and work to help the College meet its equity goalsand objectives as outlined in its strategic plan. This role will includeresponsibilities related to College-wide planning, data governance, andaccreditation as well.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate reporting to various state and federal reports (e.g. IPEDS, HEIRS, and others);
  • Supervise the production of publications for the College website including the Fact Book;
  • Engage in collaborative efforts to support the specialized and general accreditation process;
  • Analyze and interpret data to produce audience-appropriate reports, executive summaries, fact sheets, graphic presentations, and visualizations;
  • Guide the development and maintenance of institutional dashboards and supervise others in this work;
  • Lead the collection, analysis and dissemination of national surveys including the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE);
  • Provide oversight for institutional surveys and focus groups as well as the analysis of related data;
  • Ensure that institutional data collection and reporting processes are reliable, valid and ethical;
  • Supervise department staff including analysts, interns, and work study students;
  • Co-chair the Institutional Review Board;
  • Represent the Office of Institutional Effectiveness on College committees;• Represent MassBay on DHE and other state-wide committees;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a research-related field, such as statistics, social science, mathematics, or information science. Five years of experience in Institutional Research may be substituted for a Master’s degree;
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in data gathering, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and /or data reporting within a higher education context;
  • Advanced expertise with software for office productivity (e.g. MS Word and Excel), statistical analysis (e.g. SPSS) and data visualization (e.g., Tableau);
  • Excellent analytical, communication, report writing and presentation skills, especially the ability to communicate analysis and research to broad audiences;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to accuracy, and mature judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Doctoral degree and five years of relevant experience in Institutional Research/Effectiveness;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and growth within Institutional Research/Effectiveness;
  • Experience in leading research design, data collection and retrieval, survey design, data visualization, statistical analysis and reporting in support of senior-level decision-making;
  • Understanding of relational databases and experience with SQL;
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion in research design;
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work across a wide variety of team members and stakeholders;
  • Experience with higher education reporting needs and systems, such as IPEDS and HEIRS;
  • Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, staff, and faculty.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $85,000- $95,000
