The Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team seeks a dynamic Director of Marketing with extensive experience and exceptional skills to implement the marketing efforts and grow the RWU brand. The director will contribute to the team's leadership and implement the university's marketing plans. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the Director of Marketing is responsible for the creation, implementation, and leadership of the University's Comprehensive Marketing Strategy. The Director of Marketing focuses on the university's content strategy, media buys, and website content and development while maintaining effective advertising campaigns across social, search, and traditional advertising placements. The Director should be data-driven in decision making and experienced to oversee all marketing effectiveness across the institution from brand awareness to recruitment strategies with a focus on achieving university goals. This role is mainly in-person and on campus with flexibility in schedule for remote days.

Essential Functions/Characteristics

  • Support and prioritize Roger Williams's goals to reinforce organizational purpose and culture.
  • Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to inclusive branding and the diverse backgrounds of the RWU community, including cultural, ethnic, gender, national citizenship, sexual orientation, religious, and socioeconomic traits and preferences.
  • Have excellent project management skills and demonstrated experience in improving processes, implementing solutions to ensure the team functions efficiently, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Contribute to the overall success of MarCom by being an active and positive team member, contributing to team meetings with energy, and being a positive member of the RWU community.
  • Adhere to the technical, branding, and style standards of the university.

Marketing

  • Implement the comprehensive marketing strategies that includes plans for marketing initiatives, SEO, SEM, social media, email campaigns, and other online channels to drive lead generation and audience engagement.
  • Manage program-specific needs across various recruitment campaigns.
  • Create, monitor, and pivot digital ad strategies across search and social platforms.
  • Assist with planning traditional media spending for brand awareness.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions to generate innovative and compelling ideas for trending and impactful video and marketing campaigns that support philanthropy efforts.
  • Collaborate with the entire MarCom team to produce multimedia content.
  • Manage the budget, allocating resources to initiatives with the highest return on investment.

Website

  • Work with the Web Content Manager to update website content and functionality.
  • Develop and execute a content strategy that positions RWU website information architecture and sets SEO best practices.
  • Ensure data oversight and best practices, including ADA compliance and adherence to GDPR and international data regulations.
  • Manage the overall performance and optimization of the website.
  • Oversee projects with third-party vendors and freelancers, when utilized for web development.

Data and Analytics Reporting

  • Manage digital marketing technologies and integration of various platforms into the Department, including but not limited to
  • Develop and analyze dashboard key performance indicators and monitor the progress of goals and objectives, benchmarking against key competitors in higher education and aligning with the strategic priorities and regular reporting.
  • Use data gathered from numerous sources to develop unique insights to leverage content and drive decisions.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, Marketing, Design, Communications or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in digital media and marketing management.
  • Proven success with crafting content and tactics that inspire engagement on behalf of a brand.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong familiarity with the Associated Press writing style.
  • Substantial experience building reports and assessing G4 Analytics, Meta Insights, and social monitoring tools.
  • Experience driving successful media campaigns through organic, SEO, branded, and sponsored content.
  • Working skills in Drupal and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and identify and resolve complex problems independently.
  • Successful experience working in a team setting.
  • Work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving processes and implementing solutions to ensure the team functions efficiently, and maintains quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • G4 Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Slate, and Siteimprove.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
