POSITION: FPI Inspector

LOCATION: Jupiter/Stuart Florida

STATUS: Hourly Non-exempt

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performs assessment on various aerospace turbine components received for inspection by following written procedures, documents (blueprints, drawings, and specifications), and established practices
  • Performs visual inspections as required
  • Performs NDT inspections as required (X-ray, FPI, ultrasonic, etc.)
  • Capable of blending out indications found during NDT per engineering instructions.
  • NDT processing and interpretation of findings
  • Interfaces with engineering and order execution regarding recommendations for work instruction and router improvements
  • Generates NCRs in QSI system
  • Reviews job paperwork through entire inspection process to ensure completeness and conformity
  • Utilizes precision measuring equipment as required for incoming assessment
  • Operates small cranes to move equipment, parts, and material
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Following Environmental Health and Safety regulations while working in fast pace environment.
  • Performing waste handling in accordance to EHS procedures & legal requirements, such as:
  1. Segregating waste generated
  2. Placing hazardous and non-hazardous waste in appropriate containers
  3. Maintaining waste containers closed and in good condition
  4. Labeling waste containers with appropriate hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste labels
  5. Marking the start accumulation date to hazardous waste label once the container in the satellite accumulation area becomes full.
  6. Arranging internal waste transfer to central accumulation area
  7. Contain and clean up area incidental spills
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Training

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • FPI Level 3 preferred, Level 2 with advanced number of hours in OTJ training completed will also be considered.
  • Complete specific on-the-job training towards meeting essential duties and work area performance criteria.
  • Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix, which includes:
    1. Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training.

Skills/Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in an aviation/aerospace production or manufacturing test environment
  • 5+ years of experience performing NDT, visual and dimensional inspection processes
  • 5+ years of experience with interpretation of technical drawings or work instructions
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office programs, SAP, and time keeping applications
  • Must be detail orientated

Physical Requirements

  • Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another.
  • Pushing & Pulling
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • May require travel (air & ground) with short notice.
  • Being able to wear required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as respirators, Tyvek suit, gloves, face shield, etc.
  • Ability to cooperate and work with people
