Overview
Clinical care will be combination:
Perform clinical visits for consultations and follow up care to student athletes
Provide diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound clinical services
Participate in event coverage for the UO Athletics Department
Engage in didactic curriculum content as directed by program director
Consultation visits with student athletes from UO on campus
Sideline/event coverage of UO sporting events
Mass participation event coverage
Clinical visits in the Student Health Department at the UO. This clinical work will be under the direction of the Head of Athletic Medicine at the University of Oregon.
The Fellowship will also provide didactic and research opportunities with a special emphasis:
Contribute to either a novel research project or ongoing research project with faculty from UO or OHSU
Running Medicine
Nutrition
Diagnostic and Interventional Musculoskeletal Ultrasound applications
Exercise as Medicine. The Fellow will participate in projects with faculty at the UO as well as with faculty from the OHSU Sports Medicine Program.
Responsibilities
MD or DO degree
Family Medicine residency completion
Completion of ACGME accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship
Board Certified in Family Medicine
Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (either have passed or be in good standing with fellowship currently to be in line to take CAQ in summer of year of completion of ACGME Sports Fellowship.
Strong Foundational core in Family Medicine Primary Care skills.
Robust Sports Medicine Clinical knowledge including the evaluation, assessment, and treatment of common sports medicine musculoskeletal and medical conditions.
Comfort using musculoskeletal ultrasound for both diagnostic and interventional applications.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to patient care information and chart contents as use of patient record and privacy of individuals must be protected to the fullest. Ability to maintain documentation in compliance with State, Federal, Professional and Ethical guidelines. Ability to consistently utilize professional communication and conflict resolution skills with patients and staff. Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks and be self-directed. Ability to use the computer system in order to obtain patient information.
