VP of Global Allocation and Yield Management

 

Job Purpose

 

The Global Head of Yield and Allocation is responsible for the overall allocation management of focused trades as well as optimization of our GP per TEU on a daily basis.

The individual is responsible for setting and executing the allocation and yield processes and structure with the global trade management team and key affected countries. Incl. managing and developing the relationships with our core carriers to ensure we deliver as promised to carriers and customers while maximizing our yields.

Furthermore, the role is part of the global trade management leadership team responsible for aligning and setting a clear direction for the FCL product development and growth in collaboration with the growth and M&S organization.

Key Tasks

  • Strategy & PnL management
  • Responsible for allocation and yield process and product development.
  • Execute and drive allocation and yield optimization across focus trades
  • Ensure yields are optimized on all defined tradelanes in scope as per annual targets set for the team
  • Help deliver agreed budgeted volumes to our carriers to ensure a continued strategic development.
  • Ensure daily engagement and support to countries to optimize their yield and customer service
  • Continued drive and enhancements of our Allocation and Yield Management process and system
  • Carrier Management
    • Manage and develop operational relationships with carriers, focusing on Strategic Partner Carriers and aligning with the global carrier strategy. 
    • Daily execute and steer volumes as per agreed allocation to optimize yield and fulfill commitments.
    • Deal with daily operational challenges around allocation management with carriers which can’t be handled locally as main escalation before trade management.
    • Monitoring core carrier adherence performance weekly and monthly by utilizing various available tools to achieve target with carriers based on latest estimate. 
  • Lead, guide, strengthen and grow the global allocation and yield management team and create next level leaders.
  • Allocation and Yield Management
    • Responsible (together with the team) for allocation management on focused export trades, which includes
  • Supporting Trade setting up (weekly) allocations with all (core) carriers
  • maintaining agreed allocations in existing and future systems
  • managing supply (allocations) and demand (customer forecasted volumes and actual shipments/bookings)
  • ensuring that agreed processes (related to allocation management) are followed by countries
  • Responsible for executing the volume steering guidelines which can vary per trade and country
  • Monitors actual volumes booked and shipped and takes corrective actions (= initiates carrier shifting) in alignment and sign off from Trade Management in order
    • to utilize available space
    • to fulfill carrier targets and contract MQCs
    • to optimize and maximize GP on customer, shipment, tradelane level
    • to optimize and maximize carrier incentives
  • Drive, Support and/or co-ordinate global projects related to Allocation and Yield Mng upon request.
   

Stakeholders

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders – Trade Mng, Country Mng, Sales, Gateways, Operational Mng
  • Will cooperate with and drive execution with shipping lines and other external service providers incl. customer engagement
  • Build strong, trusting cross-functional relationships with DHL managers
  • Understand customer and key stakeholders interests and concerns and advise direct reports, customers and key stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance to line managers and employees
 

Management Responsibility

  • Lead (directly or indirectly) multiple teams or individuals on equal or lower levels in a matrix setup to ensure policies and strategies are well aligned.
  • The Global Head of Allocation and Yield Management reports to the Global Head of FCL & Trade Management.
  • This role will have several direct reports managing various trades, a team located inside the GSC, and dotted or direct responsibility of demand planners at destination, and dotted responsibility of allocation teams sitting inside countries / gateways.

  • Min. 8-10 years of experience in the OFR forwarding industry
  • Min. 5 years of experience in OFR allocation and yield management
