We are looking for an immediate, full-time, IT Legal Counsel based in EMEA region. Do not hesitate to apply if you are based anywhere in EMEA region.

Join the IT Legal Services team, a division within GBS (the in-house services arm of DHL).  and as part of the team, you will be responsible for advising the business on IT Legal Contracts and related matters within the region and liaising, where necessary, with legal colleagues in other regions on cross border arrangements.  Travel will be necessary when required to meet the business needs. 

 

Main Responsibilities:

Legal Advice and Services:

  • Review and approve legal contracts, letters of agreement, and other documents covering a wide range of technology and telecoms  transactions to protect the business interests of the company.
  • Administer established legal procedures and assist in assigned legal projects
  • Assisting in the provision of subject matter legal expertise to one or more DHL business units in area of responsibility.
  • Advise the business on legal and related risks associated with DHL's operations in area of responsibility.
  • Advise business on legal trends and developing areas of law
  • Research, analyse and interpret case law, court reports and proposed/ existing laws and regulations to prepare technical reports on their impact on organization’s operations
  • Liaise with subject matter experts as required
  • Supports the implementation of legal risk mitigation strategies in own area of responsibility.
  • Works with supervisor on transactional and project work.
 

 Customers & Stakeholders

  • Responsible for assuring organisation's legal interests are best represented and protected in customer, vendor and third party contracts; active participant in negotiating such contracts in area of responsibility.
 

Departmental Support and Growth

  • An integral member of the GBS IT Legal Services Global team.
  • Attend various team meetings, know-how and training sessions and conferences.
  • As part of shared legal services, support the needs of other Business Units in the region as workload permits to assist the overall Legal Service line.
  • Liaise closely and where needed, with any legal counsels in the Legal Services Department and other experts and corporate centre leads
 

Required Experience:

  • University law degree and professional law qualifications - Law Degree and Admitted/Qualified Attorney or Advocate
  • 1-3 years PQE - legal practice either within commercial law firm or in house legal department
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong legal knowledge and drafting skills with ability to apply legal knowledge and expertise in a business environment.
  • Ability to work independently with people from all levels across our divisions.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with the internal international business partners.
  • Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects in parallel, meet demanding deadlines, and prioritise workflow, and should be adaptable, service-oriented, flexible and highly motivated.
  • Fluent in English including being able to draft and negotiate complex contractual documents in English.
  • Additional language skills and international expertise a bonus.
