Modeling and Simulation Analyst

The Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Analyst will primarily focus on the Deployed Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) system and will cross train into other M&S simulation systems, such as the MAGTF Tactical Warfighting Simulation (MTWS), or their successors. The M&S Analyst reports to and receives work direction from the Project Manager through the local Company Site Lead. The M&S Analyst will perform the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate, provide instruction, and maintain various training to simulation models with respect to a functional area of operations, with respect to billet assignment and contractor's personal military background (i.e., fires, maneuver, etc.).
  • Provide analysis of the maneuver functional area and identify strengths and weaknesses as they occur during a simulation-supported event.
  • Maintain proficiency as a DVTE M&S Analyst.
  • Cross-train as a M&S Analyst into other simulation systems as assigned.
  • Participate in Exercise Development as assigned.
  • Research documents and extracts or factual data for composition of military forces for a model/simulation.
  • Edit doctrinal manuscripts, analyzes problem areas, and postulate feasible solutions for simulation and training events.
  • Participate in and conducts reviews and structured walk-through of simulation events and training, operation orders and plans, and information gathering requirements.
  • Provide analysis during exercises and attends conferences and meetings at both the resident site and other locations off-site.
  • Assists in reviewing classified material and recommends a lesser classification for use in events, models simulations, demonstrations, reports, and/or briefings.
  • As new simulation models or upgrades to current simulation models are introduced, the M&S section is required to train, operate, and maintain the new model or upgrade.
  • Provide analysis of emergent simulation technologies against stated requirements, including drafting test plans, conducting tests, publishing test results, and maintaining and archiving of simulation-based training scenarios including organizational databases, tactics, weapon system capabilities, doctrine, and force structures for use in preparation of strategic or tactical exercises.
  • Document the salient properties of the system(s) being evaluated and their relevance to Marine Corps or Joint training.
  • Translate operations orders into simulation databases.
  • Conduct pre-event tests and evaluation of supporting databases, and parametric data.
  • Conduct post-event critique and analysis employing various after action review systems.
  • Capture and report training system utilization data.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma
  • Minimum five years of operational experience in combat arms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the Battalion-level or above, as measured by actual operational force employment experience.

  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • The ideal candidate has a USMC background in aviation or ground combat as an NCO, SNCO or Officer; has experience in ground/air fires coordination/delivery; has served in an instructional billet; and has an introductory familiarity or above with simulation-supported exercises.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is conducted on site, in a government facility.
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move computer and associated equipment.
  • Be able to work an unstable schedule, to include holidays and weekends in support of exercises. Exercises often require shifts of 12-14 hrs per day, 7 days a week for the duration of the exercise, which normally are 1-2 weeks in length.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • May require occasional OCONUS travel for up to three weeks at a time.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
  • Daily travel in local area during workday (including use of personal vehicle).
SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • NATO-Secret security clearance is required for this position.
