JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Medical Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) assumes a critical role in the comprehensive management of both medical and non-medical equipment, ensuring readiness for deployment to military units in the field. This multifaceted position involves overseeing every aspect of the logistics process, from the initial receipt of supplies to the meticulous stocking, selection, and storage procedures. By thoroughly organizing and preparing medical supplies, the SME ensures equipment is readily available and efficiently deployed to meet the needs of deployed military units.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide exemplary customer service in the management of medical and non-medical materials, specifically catering to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) response enterprise medical assemblages.
  • Oversee forward logistics operations, encompassing receiving, stocking, selecting, and storing medical supply items, as well as executing supply turn-in and requisition functions for medical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain precise records and accountability for all received supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in inventory control and accounting procedures for medical supplies and equipment.
  • Liaise effectively with warehouse and maintenance personnel to oversee the reception, inspection, shipping, storage, issuance, and salvage of equipment items, guaranteeing meticulous records within the Air Force Medical System - Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) database.
  • Assist with advanced help desk tasks related to equipment and assemblage management, account permissions, and system updates.
  • Collaborate closely with designated military medical logisticians and/or biomedical equipment repair technicians within the Site Medical Section, sharing similar responsibilities and tasks.
  • Receive, store, and issue warehouse float stock estimated at fifteen (15) percent of the total fielded equipment.
  • Perform a monthly cyclic inventory of stock consisting of ten (10) percent of the total stock line items with reported finding submitted to COR no more than one (1) week after each cyclic inventory is completed.
  • Ensure inventory is delivered to the shipping dock within four (4) hours of receiving an approved requisition and coordinate appropriate shipping arrangements within the same four (4) hour period.
  • Complete a Report of Discrepancy (ROD) when a non-conforming shipment has been received and resolve all RODs within thirty (30) days of the date of the non-conforming shipment documenting all communications with vendors.
  • Ship all non-critical OEM repairable items within three (3) working days upon receiving the item requiring repair.
  • Provide sustainment support for the National Guard Bureau (NGB) unique items of fielded equipment.
  • Purchase and maintain operational stocks by replenishing the Authorized Stock List items, training sets, and FAST packages.
  • Establish and deploy pre-prepared FAST packages (with personnel) to incident sites.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in governing supply chain regulations, procedures, and instructions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods.
  • Skilled in warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques, including material receiving, issuing, and preservation.
  • Competent in inventory management and oversight.
  • Capable in general supply activities such as ordering, receiving, and providing customer support.
  • Proficient in inventory logistics and warehousing operations.
  • Proficient in comprehending and applying reference materials such as regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, and orders to effectively address and resolve issues.
  • Skilled in reading, interpreting, and applying various resources to accomplish tasks and overcome challenges.
  • Capable of utilizing reference materials to navigate complex problems and make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize regulations, manuals, and other resources to achieve objectives and find solutions.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication with demonstrated aptitude in utilizing correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
  • Competence in formatting, editing, and preparing various forms of written communication, including correspondence, reports, and transcribed content.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in medical logistics operations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing situations and operational requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address logistical challenges in complex environments.
  • Ability to operate a 1.5-ton stake bed truck and a 4-10k electric forklift for the purpose of transporting medical equipment, supplies, and furniture.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
  • United States citizen.
  • Proficiency in coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, such as military units, governmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations, to ensure timely and effective medical support.
  • In depth knowledge Department of Defense (DoD) medical logistics policies, procedures, and regulations.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Non-Military Personnel:
    1. Bachelor’s degree in physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, or related field.
    2. Minimum of five (5) years’ physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, or related field.
  • Prior Military Personnel:
    1. Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience, or
      • Company Grade Officer with minimum of three (3) years’ experience in related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in medical logistics, supply chain management, or a similar role within the healthcare industry, with a demonstrated background in Department of Defense (DoD) medical logistics and supplies (excluding formulary items).

PREFERRED:

  • Non-Military Personnel:
    1. Master’s degree in physical science, biology, chemistry, or physics.
    2. Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, or related field.
  • Prior Military Personnel:
    1. Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) with a minimum seven (7) years’ experience in related field, or
      • Company Grade Officer with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in medical logistics, supply chain management, or a similar role within the healthcare industry, with a demonstrated background in DoD medical logistics and supplies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capability to undertake tasks necessitating physical efforts, such as lifting, transporting, and relocating equipment up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods while performing tasks such as receiving, stocking, and selecting medical supplies.
  • Ability in traversing the facility premises to access and retrieve medical supplies as needed.
  • Adequate vision to read labels, documents, and inventory lists accurately, as well as to inspect and identify medical supplies.
  • Working in environments that may include exposure to noise, vibrations, chemicals, or additional hazards, requiring adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule as needed in the event of contingencies or as directed by management.
