Must be able to work at least three 12 hour shifts each week from 7pm until 7:30am, will be required to work some weekends and holidays.
Job Summary
Position requires the assessment and review of patient history, and ability to use vascular guidelines while determining the appropriate intravenous access device for each patient. The position is responsible for patient throughput and placement of PICC devise for those patients with a lack of IV access either during the hospitalization or as a part of discharge. This position may be responsible for care within the UK Healthcare Enterprise. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction.
Applicants who possess the VA-BC (Vascular Access Board Certified) certification are eligible to be hired into a Nurse Vascular Access/Certified/UKHC position, which is a grade 11 ($26.00/hour – $45.70/hour).
Applicants who are not certified at time of hire are eligible to receive a pay increase and be moved into the Certified, grade 11 role (AS AVAILABLE) once certification has been obtained and 90 days of successful employment have been completed.

All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.
