Program Coordinator



The Program Coordinator provides an important supportive role on the Institute of Politics’ team. The position is primarily responsible for assisting in the coordination of the student civic engagement programs of the Elsie Hillman Civic Forum along with supporting the student and program data management for the Institute of Politics (IOP). The incumbent will provide assistance to the full portfolio of IOP programming related to student participation and will be supervised by the Assistant Director of Student Programs and Community Outreach with oversight from the IOP Director. The coordinator is expected to work closely with the IOP Administrative Manager and IOP Policy staff and interns as needed.

The coordinator will assist in scheduling student interviews and coordinating communications for student recruiting purposes, building university-wide awareness of student programming, assisting instructors with course management platforms, updating program handbooks with supervisory input, event coordination, provide data entry and reports for programs, and assisting in the development program materials including slide decks. The incumbent will coordinate the venues, meals, accommodations, travel, room set ups, classrooms, and assist with other event planning needs. The coordinator will also provide administrative support and other duties as needed.


Job Summary

Provides daily support in the execution of an assigned program, section, or special interest group and implements procedures, processes, services, and systems to support program workflow. Evaluates and monitors projects, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and advises staff on program policies. Creates program communications, coordinates data and manages program databases, and assists in developing program evaluations.


Essential Functions

A qualified candidate should have a bachelor’s degree and one to two years of experience in student affairs or higher education management. The ideal and successful candidate will understand, support, and embrace the benefits of a diverse campus community and value the perspective of others while maintaining a nonpartisan position at all times. Experience in experiential learning and/or public policy is preferred but not required.

The Program Coordinator is able to work a hybrid work schedule with a heavy emphasis placed on being present on campus as needed and for a minimum of three days per week when the IOP team is present.


Physical Effort

Duties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to use a computer at a desk or similar workstation, and travel to on-campus meetings as needed.
