The Department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to understand the structural and molecular effects of aging and age-related hearing loss in central auditory synapses. Qualified Senior postdoctoral fellows are also welcome to apply.

The successful candidate is expected to take a supporting role in supervising ongoing NIH-funded research projects and to develop independent projects focused on structural and molecular changes in aging and age-related hearing loss. S/he will regularly interact with the growing community of neuroscience researchers at Pitt) including researchers affiliated with organizations such as the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP). Postdocs can thus interact with numerous labs sharing similar research interests and participate in neuroscience seminars, retreats, etc.

Applicants must have a PhD in Neuroscience, or other relevant field and at least one year of postdoctoral experience if applying to a Senior Postdoc position. Applicants must have demonstrated quantitative skills in anatomy and immunocytochemistry of brain tissues. Experience in electron microscopy is preferred. Experience and a publication record in sensory systems, especially the auditory system, are preferred.
