Description:

Position Summary

This position will be supporting the Bay Pines VA Medical Center as a contractor. Providing basic care to patients and helps them carry out certain daily tasks they cannot do on their own due to illness. Support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures, such as setting up and operating special medical equipment and apparatus. Assisting surgeons and registered nurses in operating room activities, including passing instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, and draping and positioning patients.



Contract Details

  • 52 weeks contract with possibility to extend each year.
  • Hours will vary depending on shift.


Responsibilities

  • Escorting/helping the patient with toileting, grooming, daily tasks, physical support, and any other required needs.
  • Follow any and all HIPPA and VA security protocols.
  • Keeping workspace organized, for team to be able to work without interruption.
  • Preparing and assisting during group activities or individual sessions by setting up room, passing out and collecting papers or other paraphernalia as needed for group activities or individual sessions.
  • Personal Assistant is to escort veteran (s) and assist in any duties to support the patient.
  • Personal Assistant is permitted to have access to medical documentation may read, access or listen to documentation pertaining to patients on caseload.
  • Personal Assistant may attend interdisciplinary team meetings, discussions and coordination meetings involving veteran patients on the caseload and any interviews with patients.


Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a 2-year degree program in an accredited community college, junior college, or college or university in practical nursing or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position, such as education in a program for a psychology, psychiatric, or operating room technician.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical, nursing, or patient care facility, or in such work as that of a home health aide.
  • Ability to clear any credentialing requirements.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
