We are looking to place an Environmental Scientist to provide Pollution Prevention (P2) and Qualified Recycling Program on-site support at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide environmental/recycling and pollution prevention program outreach support (electronic, written, JBSA.mil QRP webpage, and social media).
  • Coordinate outreach efforts with Government points of contact including public affairs.
  • Prepare outreach publications, handouts, Recycling Roundup Tips, etc.
  • Support construction and demolition waste management, pollution prevention, and recycling efforts.
  • Track recycling center commodities processed for sale.
  • Maintain the budget for the Qualified Recycling Program (QRP).
  • Track the number of recyclable materials diverted through the QRP.
  • Assist with pollution prevention initiatives
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the EESOH-MIS Data module for the QRP database, as required to be consistent with data calls.
  • Assist with Commodity Market Analysis (CMA) updates for the QRP.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in science or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of applicable experience involving pollution prevention, recycling programs, environmental education, community outreach / communications activities.
  • Experience in DoD P2 and recycling programs is desirable.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with MS Office applications is required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Federal agency background check is required.
  • Individuals already possessing an adjudicated National Agency Check with written Inquiries (NACI) are preferred as well as prior Air Force or DoD experience.
  • Motivated self-starters requested.
