We have an exciting opportunity for a General Manager based near Bury St Edmunds, Stanton to work within our Automotive Manufacturing Logistics division.

We make promises to our customers, and we'll make promises to you too. The key responsibilities in this role include;

  • Define the sites operational potential based on the business strategy and ensure operations are performing to their potential in a simple and sustainable way.
  • Lead commercial reviews with the customer for growth and renewal and develop customer relationships year-on-year to ensure customer retention and loyalty.
  • Lead the overall approach to resource planning and management, direct reports are recruited, assessed, trained and resources are planned to meet the forecasted volumes and managed to achieve optimum performance within budget and the organisational structure is lean and efficient.
  • Accountable for the overall multiyear performance of the sites, including achievement of agreed customer KPIs, delivering site budget, financial results and other internal KPIs (eg. safety, operational, employee related etc).
  • Lead and participate in Performance Dialogs, Gemba walks and Town Hall meetings and lead by example reinforcing behaviours that align with DHL culture, respect, and results.
  • Responsible for partnering with local HR Business Partner regarding any employee/industrial relations matters e.g. unions, works councils etc.

  • Previous experience in managing a Warehouse Operations and Transport Operations,
  • Senior Operations Management/Site Leadership with P&L responsibility, ideally with an understanding of Open and Closed Book contracts, desirable.
  • Leadership skills, experience in managing several reporting layers below.
  • Building and maintaining customer relationship, along with stakeholder management and decision making skills.
  • A passion for people and customer engagement, leading a team and developing that team and their abilities and skills.
  • A real can do, passion and right first time attitude towards working and being part of a team that delivers.
