GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Mortgage Loan Originator identifies the mortgage needs of our members and borrowers and recommends appropriate financial solutions according to Arkansas Federal Credit Union's standards of excellence. This position requires one to complete mortgage loan applications face-to-face and via phone, as well as evaluate applications from the Arkansas Federal website. The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for tailoring services to meet the individual needs of each borrower and escorting them through process to closing.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Based on our external service standard, the Mortgage Loan Originator, Mortgage Loan Processor, Mortgage Loan Underwriter, and Mortgage Loan Closer/Shipper will each do their part to meet our commitment to the member to have all loan requests processed and closed within the designated time frame.
  2. Meet with member face-to-face, or communicate via phone or email based on borrower preference, collect data and documentation, as determined by DU and underwriters.
  3. Connect with area real estate professionals and develop a marketing plan to locate potential referral partners and new borrowers. Continue outreach to develop relationships in effort to solicit mortgage business is expected.
  4. Evaluate financial and credit situations for applications and determine eligibility.
  5. Provide borrower and realtor of pre-qualification information in order to execute the best possible negotiations.
  6. Prepare the loan file for processing by gathering required documentation and information.
  7. Communicate with borrower, realtors, and third parties as necessary to keep all parties informed for the duration of the process and attend local closing at title closing offices.
  8. Work with branches to increase business in the community by attending department and branch meetings as indicated by management.
  9. Maintain professional presentation while attending community and networking events.
  10. Develop working knowledge of credit union services, policies, procedures, and government regulations concerning mortgage lending.
  11. Contribute to team efforts and perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications



QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
