JOB SUMMARY:

Broadly, the individual in this position will work collaboratively with PRTM, the Athletic Department, Campus Recreation, and broader community partners around the state to develop and provide adaptive sports and recreation opportunities to participants with disabilities and other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

20% - Essential - Adaptive Sport Program Development and Implementation:

o Plan, organize, and implement a variety of adaptive sport programs and events throughout the year, catering to different ability levels and interests.

o Collaborate with coaches, instructors, and volunteers to ensure safe and inclusive participation in all programs.

o Continuously evaluate program effectiveness and make data-driven improvements to enhance participant experiences.

20% - Essential - Specific to community and campus programs, duties may include but are not limited to the following:

· Direct service provision in community programs

o Plan and implement adaptive sports and recreation services

o Identify and cultivate community partnerships to aid in program delivery

o Manage and coordinate all volunteer activities (i.e., training, events, etc )

20% - Non-Essential - Direct service provision in varsity programs

o Assist in recruiting (e.g., identifying potential athletes, arranging visits, etc.)

o Attend athletic competitions (home and away)

o In coordination with Athletics travel services, plan and coordinate team travel logistics.

o Point person (planning and implementation) for home tournaments.

20% - Essential - Course instruction

o Teach relevant PRTM courses as needed (i.e., Adaptive Sports and Recreation)

o Serve as a site supervisor (not academic advisor) for PRTM 2060/2070 Practicums

o Serve as a site supervisor (not academic advisor) for students in PRTM 4050/4250 Internships

20% - Essential - Desired Skills:

· Ability to establish and maintain relationships and partnerships with individuals and organizations

for the success of adaptive sports and recreation at Clemson and across the state.

· Passion for adaptive sports and recreation and inclusion.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

Have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of one (1) year of direct service delivery in adaptive sports and recreation

Be nationally certified, in good standing, as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
(CTRS); Must be willing to obtain Certified Adaptive Recreation and Sport Specialist (CARSS) level 1 certification through Blaze Sports America or Adaptive Sport Specialty Certification through the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC); Obtain registration, certification, or licensure as required by state laws.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

25% - Exposure to heat or cold
25% - Wet or humid
25% - Mechanical hazards
25% - Overnight Travel
5% - Exposure to bio-hazards (i.e. blood, bodily fluids)

Working indoors and outdoors, with adaptive sports equipment, and individuals with disabilities may result in hot/humid/cold environments, with the possibility of bodily fluids like vomit, blood, feces, etc. if a situation occurs.
