Job Summary
The Department of English in the College of Arts Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY invites applications for tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This is a 9-month position in the special title series with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. This position will have an anticipated teaching load of 3 courses per semester. This position will focus on advancing the department’s commitment to student mentoring, workforce readiness, and innovative pedagogical practices. We seek a candidate who will contribute to the Literature and Film Division’s strategic goals to (a) enhance the undergraduate learning environment through innovative teaching practices; (b) promote undergraduate student professional development and career success; and (3) develop undergraduate initiatives that bridge academic scholarship and public engagement. While the area of specialization is open, successful candidates will have experience teaching across the undergraduate literature and film curriculum, including both lower- and upper-level courses, as well as administrative experience with revising and revitalizing the undergraduate English curriculum, collaborating with units across the university, and creating internship opportunities in the community. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise and/or scholarly interest in pedagogy (with a particular emphasis on transferable skill development) and high-impact learning experiences such as student internships, education abroad, and student research.

A Ph.D. in English is required.
