OIS Outreach Coordinator



The Outreach Coordinator position is responsible for a variety of administrative and presentation duties in the Office of International Services (OIS) to support international community programming, social media efforts, fundraising, communication initiatives and event planning. The Outreach Team in OIS presents a variety of programs for the Pitt international community (students, scholars, employees, alumni, and family members) such as the Global Leadership class, Experience America program, special events, regular programmatic emails, and social media content. In addition, we serve the entire Pitt community with cross-cultural trainings, both in the Faculty/Staff Development Program and On Demand programs.

Job Summary

  • Programs and OIS Events – manage, and present different programs for the Pitt international community
  • Special Events – coordination and support for campus events with OIS, campus, and community partners
  • Email Communication – manage weekly and monthly emails to different populations in partnerships with OIS Student and Employment Teams
  • Social Media Management – plan and manage OIS social media content including features with campus partners and different locations in Pittsburgh
  • Cultural Trainings – support and present cross-cultural trainings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a hybrid position. The schedule varies per week depending on university activities.


Job Summary

Develops and facilitates training and on-site support to a program or outreach program and coordinates networking and informational meetings for staff. Serves as a liaison between the outreach team and the public to build effective partnerships. Develops and implements special programs, coordinates events and logistics, and contributes to promotional activities and functions. Assists in trainer coordination.


Essential Functions
  • Develops, implements, and administers training and on-site support to a program or outreach program.
  • Coordinates networking and informational meetings for staff.
  • Acts as a liaison between the outreach team and the public to communicate ideas and conducts feedback interviews as to the effectiveness of program.
  • Creates and implements special programs as needed.
  • Assists in set up and coordination of trainers externally.
  • Coordinates events, including logistics, materials, and location.
  • Attends and promotes University programs at community events. Interacts and builds partnerships with local community organizations, groups, and local businesses.
  • Performs promotional-related tasks.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
