About La Salle University and the MFT Program
La Salle University, located in Philadelphia, PA, is a Lasallian Catholic university committed to the principle that all knowledge is practical and empowering, filled with the capacity to transform lives. In association with a diverse and inclusive learning community, our mission is to educate the whole person. La Salle’s mission is focused on advocacy, community, and social justice, and therefore prepares students to lead to engaged and fulfilling lives marked by a commitment to the common good.

The MFT program at La Salle has a long and deep history of being a leader in MFT clinical training since 1979. It prepares a diverse student body for licensure as marriage and family therapists (LMFT) in Pennsylvania and most other states and for employment in many professional settings. It is a 60-credit degree that is accredited by COAMFTE, and entails a flexible curriculum of conceptual and skills courses designed for the working professional. In keeping with the Lasallian tradition, our goal is to prepare marriage and family therapists who will competently develop and implement comprehensive interventions; acquire a holistic, social justice and inclusive perspective to mental health care; and understand the complexity of addressing the overall, long-term well-being of individuals, couples, and their families from a systemic perspective.
