SA-TECH currently supports the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWCAD) Naval Air Systems Command, and the NAWCAD Webster Outlying Field Divisions by providing rapid organic engineering, prototyping, reverse-engineering, environmental testing, antenna repairs and life-cycle extensions, and production capabilities.


We are currently looking to hire a Woodworker at our St. Inigoes, MD facilities to support our exacting prototyping efforts.


The following job functions are basic requirements (but other duties may be assigned as well):

  • Construct and repair items such as boxes, crates, pallets, and storage bins from wood and wood substitutes.
  • Study, read and interpret specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and cut boards using patterns, templates, rulers, pencils, and hand and power saws.
  • Fasten or install parts using hammers, nailing machines, or power staplers.
  • Repair defective containers by replacing damaged parts, inserting wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers.
  • Build crates around objects using rulers, hand tools, and pneumatic nailers.
  • Fabricate, repair, modify, and replace woodwork on vehicle sides and beds.
  • Apply preservative to prolong wood life, and may pack, seal, band, and apply markings to crates and containers.

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary.
  • Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from 0-120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Overtime is a requirement of this position.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
  • Mastery of all common hand and power tools.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demanding, fast-paced woodworking experience.
  • Full command of various woodworking processes including sawing, routing, drilling, planing, chiseling, joinery, finishing, etc.
  • An in-depth knowledge of wood materials and substitutes.
  • Current Maryland Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
