We are pleased to announce an opening for a Part-Time US/Japan Missile Defense Representative who will join our Engineering Services Team in Fort Belvoir, VA and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, and space control marketspaces. Qualified candidates will be part of an exceptional team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight.

Responsibilities:

The US/Japan Missile Defense Representative will work on average 20 hours per week to support the MDA Advanced Architectures, Advanced Concepts Evaluation Team (MDA/CAS). The MDA/CAS team performs evaluations for emerging advanced concepts and technologies to increase the effectiveness of the globally deployed Missile Defense System and makes recommendations to the MDA Chief Architect for new concept demonstrations and potential inclusion in future deliveries of MDS Elements. The selected candidates will represent the Missile Defense Agency with respect to technical interests in official dealings with the Japanese Ministry of Defense.

Duties include:

  • Working to secure cooperative paths forward between the United States and Japan with respect to missile defense elements that are jointly produced and/or operated by both countries, such as Aegis ships and SM-3 missiles
  • Advising and making recommendations to the MDA Director of Advanced Concepts Evaluation and the MDA Chief Architect regarding positions of the Japanese Ministry of Defense
  • Serving as an ongoing liaison between MDA and Japan during program consultations, planning, and execution of joint activities

Basic Qualifications:

At a minimum, qualified candidates must have:

  • Fluency in written and spoken Japanese, to include ability to conduct technical discussions
  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or computer science.
  • At least 20 years of full-time professional experience in a technical field related to missile defense and/or technical analysis of a complex Department of Defense (DoD) weapon system
  • Must be eligible to obtain or have an active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Must be able to work at our customer site on Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia
  • United States citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Background in Missile Defense
  • History acting as liaison or representative between the US government and Japan
  • Understanding of the Japanese Ministry of Defense planning and acquisition cycle
  • Familiarity with Japanese customs and culture
  • Experience with the Aegis weapons system
  • Background interacting with and advising senior-level government customers
  • Skill in generating briefings, white papers, and presenting information at the executive level

Travel requirements: An estimated 25% of total work will be performed while traveling to CONUS or OCONUS sites, including but not limited to Japan, as needed by the government customer. OCONUS travel would generally last 1 to 2 weeks. While on Temporary Duty Travel, the successful candidate will be working 40 hour workweek equivalents.
