We are currently seeking to hire an Aircraft Mechanic I at WSMR based out of our facilities in Orogrande, NM.

As an Aircraft Mechanic, you'll need to apply advanced skills and knowledge of target operations to make sound decisions in planning for operations and in instructing subordinate mechanics. You'll need to evaluate equipment and procedures to continually improve working conditions and productivity. You will troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structures, flight surfaces and controls, as well as engines, and will repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings, fuselages, empennages, functional components, and surface controls using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brakes, rivet guns, and drills.

In this role, you must be able to utilize precision measuring devices such as micrometers, inclinometers, target-specific test sets, DVMs, and any other provided equipment to examine engines for needed repairs such as leaks. You'll need to operate engines to detect and diagnose malfunctions as well as inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security vulnerabilities, warping, wear, and missing segments. You will be needed to replace electrical wiring harnesses and aircraft accessories, perform pre-flight and post-flight maintenance inspections and perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including, but not limited to, packing parachutes, flushing engines and cleaning aircraft and filters.

You will be reading and interpreting OEM technical manuals, ATFS procedures, service bulletins and EMIs, technical data, engineering data and other specifications to determine the feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. You'll make applicable entries in the target log books, forms and records describing the work performed and verifying suitable completion.

As a mechanic, you will be expected to clean work areas and machines, tools and equipment and perform any other duties that may need to get done such as mowing, weed-eating, police calls and F.O.D. walks. Of course, you must follow all company, safety and installation policies that pertain to your day-to-day duties.

In addition, you will oversee, train and monitor Aircraft Mechanic Workers and Aircraft Mechanic Helpers to make sure they are knowledgeable and proficient at their tasks. (Everyone at our site is expected to train other co-workers, no matter their position, on areas that they have more proficiency or knowledge in.) Each mechanic has a responsibility to seek additional training for self-improvement and may be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
