Threat Tec is seeking an experienced Exercise Planner to support SOCPAC's requirements for participation in JCS and Service exercises, aligned with USINDOPACOM TCP/TCO and USSOCOM Commander's Training and Education Guidance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in exercise planning, particularly within the INDOPACOM AOR, and will be adept at coordinating multi-disciplinary special operations at both operational and tactical levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exercise Planning and Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and execute SOCPAC and component participation in assigned USINDOPACOM JCS and Service exercises.
  • Development and Management: Develop training objectives that meet SOCPAC JMETL requirements, and coordinate and manage exercise development in conjunction with USINDOPACOM and component planners.
  • System Integration: Ensure SOCPAC and component exercises inform the Defense Readiness Reporting System and incorporate the Joint Lessons Learned system.
  • Capability Enhancement: Enhance the command's capability to train and prepare for a broad spectrum of threats from real and/or simulated adversaries.
  • Objective Development: Develop training objectives in conjunction with exercise participants and SOCPAC staff stakeholders.
  • Coordination and Support: Assist in coordinating with exercise participants and supporters from DoD and non-DoD organizations.
  • Scenario Drafting: Draft and develop realistic threat scenarios and incorporate best-practice inputs from DoD and other agencies.
  • Exercise Criteria: Coordinate exercise criteria to test and stress the command's training objectives.
  • AAR Development: Consolidate and draft After-Action Reviews (AAR) related to training objectives, corrections, and Courses of Action (COA) development.
  • Travel: Up to 2 weeks of CONUS and OCONUS travel per month may be required.
  • Surge Hours: Potential surge hours not to exceed 236 hours per FTE.

Requires Skills and Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of experience as a DoD exercise planner, with at least two (2) years in the INDOPACOM AOR.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in multi-disciplined special operations at the operational and tactical levels supporting SOF.
  • Three (3) years of experience with the Joint Exercise Lifecycle (JELC) planning process.
  • Proficiency in using training software and IT systems associated with exercise planning.
  • DoD Top Secret clearance and eligible for SCI access.
  • Strong oral, writing, and coordination skills to communicate effectively.
