Med-Medicine - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24006854)

The Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Associate. The successful candidate will hold a recently awarded Ph.D., MD, or equivalent in a science-related field such as Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry. The incumbent will perform mouse and cell culture experiments, test hypotheses, conduct data analysis, and prepare research output (presentations, abstracts, manuscripts, reviews, etc.) related to understanding metabolic homeostasis, leptin resistance, and central regulation of energy metabolism. Example projects include NIH-funded studies such as the “Role of HDAC6 in the Regulation of Energy Homeostasis and Leptin Sensitivity” (R01DK125830). The learning objectives of the position will be to develop knowledge and experience in the field of basic metabolism and chronic metabolic disease, develop skills related to data management and analysis, and develop skills required for research output (i.e., grants and manuscript writing) and career independence. Ideal candidates are expected to have experience in mouse surgeries, intracranial viral injections, and behavioral assays related to glucose and energy metabolism.
