Overview

This position provides instructional support and project coordination for OCTRI’s Education and Career Development program, including support for the Human Investigations Program, an academic program including a certificate and Masters in Clinical Research. The position assists in the development and delivery of an academic curriculum of courses in the program in collaboration with course directors; and assesses the outcomes of students, trainees and graduates through tracking manuscripts, grants, and persistence in research. Duties and responsibilities include coordinating activities, including scheduling, promotion, and AV setup; assessment, and disseminating educational materials for research education courses; admissions and ongoing support for student and trainee participants; and tracking and evaluating trainee progress and outcomes.

Since the academic program serves a unique ‘student’ group of clinical and research faculty, fellows and graduates students at OHSU and partner instututions in a variety of departments and research areas, the candidate should have the ability to work with investigators from a wide variety of backgrounds with a problem solving approach and an understanding of their educational objectives in clinical and translational research.

Experience in medical research (preferably patient-oriented research) or graduate education and career development is preferred. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a history of self-motivated and detail-oriented work and/or research. Position distinguished by level of both independent and collaborative work with a small team, flexibility to complete multiple tasks and projects through various statges of development and implementation; ability to work effectively under pressure of multiple deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills and commitment to exceptional customer service is required. Working knowledge of data management is required.



Responsibilities

  • Master’s Degree with major courses in science, clinical research, or healthcare field and 1 year of relevant experience, OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience in clinical or biomedical research
  • Demonstrated intermediate Microsoft Office Word skills (Tables, graphics, formatting), intermediate Excel skills
  • Familiarity with medical/scientific research terminology in a multidiscplinary setting
  • Working knowledge of data management software and database design
  • Extremely organized self-starter with strong ability to prioritize, set obtainable goals, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines; work efficiently under pressure of multiple deadlines (able to track multiple tasks and projects through various stages of development and implementation
  • Superior communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly, positively and effectively
  • Able to develop detailed project plans, perform project monitoring for appropriate resource utilization, and timelines
  • Able and willing to learn new technologies and acquire skills as required
  • Superior analytic and quantitative skills
  • Must be sufficiently adaptable to accept and perform, in a timely and effective manner, work assignments that are outside the normal (day-to-day) routine
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as ability to work independently
  • Discretionary judgment necessary to handle confidential matters


Qualifications



  • Advanced degree in public health, biostatistics, or informatics
  • Clinical and translational research experience
  • Experience with research design and data management and analysis
  • Experience with graduate education and curriculum development
  • Knowledge of program evaluation
  • Knowledge of REDCap, Compass, Cognos, Echo 360, website editing tools, Sakai, Oracle, Banner, Audio-Visual (AV) tools
  • Experience with web content creation
  • Experience with grant guidelines and application processes
