Position Summary:

The Branch Manager is in charge of managing one of our branches and ensuring the branch will meet and exceed customer expectations and will create a customer focus experience in the branch. You will direct all aspects of branch operation and grow the deposits of the branch generated by the Personal Bankers. The Branch Manager will also be the initial point of contact for addressing customer or regulatory problems.

Essential Duties and Functions (include but are not limited to):

  • Oversees the flow of cash and financial instruments in accordance with company policy.
  • Assesses risk of all financial transactions executed by organization personnel.
  • Collects data to analyze the present and future financial status of the organization.
  • Directs, coordinates, and monitors activities to implement institution's policies and procedures.
  • Contacts customers and business, community, and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business.
  • Drive deposits & investments growth for the branch
  • Compiles and reports financial data as required by organization and government regulations.
  • Manage and coach branch employees to engage customers
  • Address client issues promptly and effectively
  • Establishes and maintains contact with banking-related industries such as insurance, real estate, and securities.
  • Improve revenues and expenses and grow the business, while exceeding customer expectations
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Directly supervises 2 to 3 employees in a Branch. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work;
  • Appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Complete all required product, service, and compliance training as it relates to the position and employment with Sterling and adheres to BSA/AML and OFAC Policy and procedures.
  • Perform all the above duties consistent with professional ethical standards, including reporting any observed ethical violations to the appropriate management, management and/or Board level committees, and/or the Bank’s ethics hotline.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; and three years related Bank Branch Management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay & Benefits: At Sterling Bank & Trust, FSB, the pay range only includes base compensation. The base pay range for this role is between $50,000 - $78,000 per year, and it is on-site at the Market Branch in San Francisco, CA. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms and stand for long periods of time. The employee is required to occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Generally, works in an office environment, may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting such as working a booth or corporate event to further promote Sterling to the market. The employee will be exposed to moderate stress levels associated with the performance of the job duties described above. There may be extended periods of computer and telephone use while performing job duties. Employee will be intermittently seated, standing and/or walking during the course of a normal business day. While every precaution is taken to avoid exposing employees to dangers in the workplace, working in a financial institution may expose employees to certain hazards in the event of criminal activity including robbery and/or attempted robbery.
