As the VMware Solutions Engineer, the individual is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing VMware-based solutions to meet the diverse needs of the organization. In this role, the VMWare Solutions Engineer is involved with working across multiple VMware technologies, providing technical expertise, support, and guidance to ensure the effective use of VMware products and solutions.
Designs and architects VMware solutions, including vSphere, ESXi, vSAN, NSX, Horizon, and VMware Aria Suite, to meet organizational requirements
Implement and configure VMware products and solutions in various environments
Collaborates with IT teams to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems and infrastructure
Develops and manages templates and snapshots for rapid deployment and efficient provisioning of virtual machines
Ensures templates and snapshots are up-to-date and optimized for performance and security
Implements best practices for template and snapshot management to support rapid deployment solutions
Monitors and maintains the health, performance, and availability of VMware environments
Performs regular updates, patches, and upgrades to VMware infrastructure.
Optimizes VMware performance through effective resource allocation, load balancing, and troubleshooting
Designs, implements, and manages automation workflows using VMware Aria Suite and VMware Orchestrator
Develops and maintains scripts and automation tools to streamline operations and improve efficiency
Collaborates with IT teams to automate repetitive tasks and processes
Provides technical support to resolve issues related to VMware environments
Troubleshoots and resolves problems, including connectivity, performance, and compatibility issues
Collaborates with helpdesk and other IT teams to ensure quick resolution of technical issues.
Implements security best practices to protect VMware environments, including access controls, encryption, and antivirus measures
Ensures compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and standards
Maintains comprehensive documentation of VMware environments, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Generates reports on VMware performance, usage, and capacity planning
Stays updated with the latest VMware technologies and industry trends
Identifies opportunities for improving VMware environments and implement enhancements
Participates in capacity planning and disaster recovery planning
Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Must have and maintain a Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) are required
Extensive experience with VMware technologies, including vSphere, ESXi, vSAN, NSX, Horizon, VMware Aria Suite, and VMware Orchestrator
Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, infrastructure design, and management
Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Additional VMware certifications are a plus
