In this job you will:

Be responsible for the overall performance of the State including financial performance, operational efficiency of the depot, direct, mentor employees, develop and maintain professional relationships across a diverse range stakeholder nationally while actively seeking potential growth opportunities and always promoting the brand with professionalism and integrity of the business.

  • Develop, lead and mentor an effective, high performing team and provide clear direction to all staff and contractors.
  • Reinforcing the importance of safety and continuously drive this message
  • Continually seek to improve all employee roles, streamlining processes to ensure optimum efficiencies are achieved.
  • Ensure all team members have a clear understanding of the expectations and direction of the business.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the service levels provided to our customers. 
  • Adhere to the requirements of the quality system including preventative actions to eliminate any recurrence of non-conformances or customer complaints.
  • Support and embrace the implementation of new technologies to further enhance quality and service to our customers and boost operational activities.
  • Ensure the state operates within agreed financial plans. 
  • Drive innovative change to improve efficiencies and cost effectiveness for the business.
  • Effective monitoring and managing P&L whilst driving innovative change to improve cost effectiveness, profitability, and overall business functionality.
  • Developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across all areas of the business internally and externally.

You have the following qualities and qualifications:

  • Able to communicate clearly with employees and provide key objectives necessary
  • Strong negotiation skills and competency in developing and monitoring KPIs
  • Proven skills and experience in people leadership and an ability to develop a positive culture and high performing team
  • Sound national Linehaul Operations experience and understanding of National network and distribution channels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, Fatigue management and understanding of NHVR and permits, WHS, and IR within a transport environment
  • Ability to drive, a passion to deliver results on time and to budget.
  • Excellent commercial, interpersonal, and change management skills.
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills with ability to negotiate at a senior management level in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, outcome focused and exceptional eye to detail.
  • Medium to high skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.
